松居 桃婁 MATSUI TOORU, an unusual and original thinker and writer, whose last work
was “An Entrance Guide to Demonology" which remained incomplete because of his sudden demise, was in midst of writing on Tolstoy's predictions.
Due to his time-limit, his research on demonology became just as the title stated- an entrance guide. He was unable to proceed further than at the very entrance.
The first section from his book was written and published for the monthly magazine"柏樹" Hakujyu from Showa62,July---63,Decenber (1988-89)
It coincides with the end of the Showa period.

Matsui Tooru's father, 松居 松翁 Matsui Shouou was a famous writer for the Kabuki world from about the end of Meiji to early Taishou (Meiji 1868〜1912 Taisho1912-26).
He was friendly with Ichikawa Sadanji who was at that time was one of the top stars for the Kabuki world.
When Tooru was still a child, he heard from his father the predictions of Tolstoy.
That made such an impact on him that he still recalled that moment vividly seventy years later (which came to about the end of the Showa period, which ended in 1989)

According to Tolstoy's predictions;
1) mankind has been duped by a witch, and is at the critical point of self-destruction
2) but just prior to that“Just as the end seems to be really approaching and mankind is in its final jeopardy, a kind of messiah appears that does literally save mankind and guides it to a path of eternal peace... He has already been born by this year..
(1910). He may be Slavic, or a Mongol. At any rate the place is very far in Asia. And he himself has no idea that he has such an important mission in his life."

This according to Matsui:
Tolstoy, after these predictions left home never to return.
He died at Astapovo station's waiting room. A famous historical incident well known to many.
Matsui thought for a long time that“that perhaps I myself may be the messiah that Tolstoy predicted, or that maybe I may even know this person according to the prediction."
I imagine he must have given deep thoughts to this throughout his life.
Tolstoy also said/wrote that his usage of the word messiah is“possibly not so much a new religion but a way of thinking so new and original as to defy all existing laws and assumptions". He also added that “I have no idea as to what that would imply".

Matsui was born in March of 1910, hence he was already in existence when these predictions were made and stated that the chosen has already been born on earth. Born by 1910 somewhere in the east of Asia.....
That could be anywhere in China, Korea, Japan or even Mongolia or Siberia(then part of Russia). Born with a way of thinking that is beyond comprehension by current standards.
So this is a revolution on human mentality, with according to Tolstoy “an incredible power that can lead mankind out of this way of self-destruction." And the birth of that movement was somehow, somewhere near Matsui. Or so it said...

But somehow that seemed not to occur.
Even around the time of Matsui's demise, more than half a century later that person mentioned seemed to be utterly non-existant. It may be possible that the “Entrance Guide to Demonlogy"was attempted as a last desperate attempt towards hope and comprehension for himself, as the world proceeded contrary ot his values and vision.

The main points of "An Entrance Guide to Demonology" are as follows;

1) When mankind, by creating an artificial device was able to express domination over nature (basically in this particular instant over animals) became arrogant and presumptuous. And thus was born the concept of “the survival of the fittest-strongest"even among mankind.

2) Then mankind became afraid for the wrath of Nature as her creations were being destroyed
and fearing revenge named that the wrath/energy-Demons and feared it.
In order to appease the Demons, mankind invented presents/gifts in order to gain permission through its exchange.

3) Professionals became available in order to communicate as directly and accurately with the Demons. Shamanism is born and a particular class became constructed to fulfill this need with constancy.

4) By now, the power of Demons have increased to the point that the whole mankind is possessed by it. And is forced to march towards the path of destruction, without the possessed realizing where they are being headed to.
The destiny of mankind is at the point of “no return/no exit" and utterly at loss, for even the way to search for an alternative.
What can be done....and done now...
It is around this point of thought that the articles are stopped due to Matsui's demise.
The book remains unfinished. It is an incomplete opus with brilliant insights.
What is stated above can be applied whole heartedly to the history for the whole of mankind, except ancient China and Japan. (Nota bene; not current or even traditional but ancient Japan and China)

According to Oswald Spengler, of the "Decline of the West" fame-as stated in his book "Man and Technics" University Press of the Pacific Honolulu, Hawaii 2002
“Man is a beast of prey.(pg.19)
The animal of prey is the highest form of mobile life. (pg.22)"

But man in order to be a carnivore must create an instrument and develop enough technique to vanquish a creature physically more powerful or skillful than himself.
That means challenging the natural laws and coming into conflict with Nature herself.
“This is the beginning of man's tragedy (pg.44)
“The fight against Nature is hopeless and yet- it will be fought to the bitter end".(ibid.)

In other words,
1) man becomes carnivore.
2) Carnivores are at the pinnacle in the hierarchy of animals.
3) By inventing weapons and techniques, carnivore-humans become the dominating emperor of the animal world.
4) So they start a struggle to conquer Nature as well.
5)The white beings became the pinnacle of that domination.
6) But Nature is greater than man. Man can not possibly conquer Nature.
7) Mankind does not know how to reverse gear and the hopeless struggle for domination continues. In all likelihood, would end with the tragic and utter destruction of mankind.
8) And that destiny/outcome is right in front of our eyes.

According to Matsui, from article no.10 from his "Entrance Guide to Demonology"
"When one starts to really think about this, it appears as this ( grain of self- destruction) started its growth eons ago with primitive man himself ."

It that really so.
It may be so for most of the world but not necessarily for Japan.
For one would be ignoring the historical reality of the Imperial decree "Prohibited the destruction of life and its consumption". It was started by Tenmu Emperor and lasted 'til Komei Emperor. So this was a concept kept alive and well for around a thousand and two hundred years. This is a period wherein men voluntarily suppressed the path as "beast of prey" and utilizing "technics" to dominate Nature.
Should one consider this to be the anomaly and the so called Western civilization style as the way of progress towards an ideal society. Or should one consider this style of Japanese civilization as the way of human enlightment and that the West, as according to thinkers like Ko Ransei (胡 蘭成), is not the civilization but rather a botched up attempt towards it and is in reality a freak, a mess, an ogre, a monster.
One has to go back to square one and define what really is a civilization for mankind.
And perhaps Western civilization itself has an anomaly in its roots.
What Tolstoy may have felt when he claimed through his predictions in 1910, that the "mentalite"of this person would be so different and hard for a person to understand (Western), he may have been alluding to all the presumed Western concepts.

So according to Spengler, Western concept of history will be:
1) creatures like the lion, tiger would be the king(s) among the animal world for they are the beast of prey. And beasts of prey are at the top of a pyramidal food -chain.
2) Man by "technics" devises tools which can be used as a weapon in order to conquer these kings of beasts. Hence mankind became king of carnivores.
3) From then on, struggle against Nature became constant as man attempts to conquer Nature herself. Controlling Nature becomes the sign of culture. That has been the way of civilization.
There is something wrong here in the picture.
1) It doesn't make sense.
2) It is wrong.
There is no logic in the sequence between 2) and 3).

According to Ko's theory Nature adheres to four principles for its process.
They are 息、生、命、and悟.
There is a developmental logic here.
息 literally meanins breath, respiration
生 is to be alive, to activate, to live
命 is life, "anima" to animate, soul
悟 is comprehension beyond the surface, to noticen feel beyond the five senses, enlightment...)
息 is the polarity as defined by Taoism.
In Japan it would be th starting point 高天原 Taka Amano Hara
>From the cosmic Nature's breath, material is born. In古事記 "Kojiki" the ancient history of Japan, it is expressed as "kami" and that is 生-life, existence....
It is this "life" that activates Kosmos.
Third is the process from which materials turn into autonomous creations.
Creatures become born.
And what was unable to utilize "life" to evolve into creations, stayed at the level of viruses.
Viruses are unable to attain life unless they are parasitic to that which contains life.
Pre-historic Stone-Age men remained at this level.

Finally the process towards comprehension.
It is through this awareness that Nature can finally evolve to the last phase of its process- namely the birth of a civilization.
So what is this awareness/ this enlightment.
It is through understanding the process of Nature that mankind can reach self-awareness and attain this level of total comprehension.
After reaching this kind of awareness, what does mankind do with this capacity?
It creature culture by imitating the same process taht Nature applies to her creations.
The artifical creations of mankind must harmonize completely with Nature herself.
In the Orient (basically China and Japan) there exist the two worlds of空 and色.
But in the West there exits no world of空 but only the world of色.
So what is he really saying here.
In the world of mankind, artificially produced objects permeate society.
That is bornm from 空.
It is the same 空 of Nature herself.
And all is born from there.
And he who comprehends the polarity within Nature herself is a civilized person.
There are people who never evolved from the barbarian status to one of civilization.
It is similar to those viruses that never evolved into higher realm of creations.
The West never really evoled but remained at the level of a virus.
They attempt to possess and dominate what is availabel and by becoming parasitic ends up as the dominator and the destroyer of both the former civilizationsa and any attempts at civilization itself.

There has been several if not more of people born around 1910 in the Orient and a large number of prodecessors before them that has pointed out the way of thinking that could be fulfilled as according to Tolstoy's predictions.
Among those thinkers one could include people like Matsui Tooru (松居 桃樓), Ko Ransei
(胡 蘭成), Oka Kiyoshi(岡 潔) Nawashiro Seitaro(苗代 清太郎).....
Despite that there still really hasn't appeared a personage that corresponds to Tolstoy's expectation, that of having the power of being able to pull mankind into an another direction.
Something must be lacking here.
And I feel that what is lacking here is precisely is for the revival of Tenmu Emperor's Imperial Decree “Prohibited the destruction of Life and its Consumption".
And to envision a world order that is not on man-made hierarchy (i.e. no slavery).
Matsui's final chapter of "An Entrance Guide to Demonology" states that this rote based educational system is an attempt by some demagogical/diabolical entity to guide mankind into a
“minus” direction.
This is absolutely correct.
But this system that hinders independent judgement and spontaneous initiative towards research or any new frontier, is really the result of the same system applied to render livestocks
more malleable.

In his book "La Sanctite de la Vie-the Illusion of法華経Sadharma Phundalika Sutra" published in 1979 states the following ideas.

In法華経-Sadharma Phundalika Sutra, there is a claim:
1) That in this Universe there exits many other forms of intelligent life.
2) Here there is the attempt at comprehending what viable and alternative ways there may be for an ideal civilizations to be created.

In that kind of ideal civilization, there are to be no livestocks nor slaves.
Unfortunately that in not stated with an affirmative. Nor is there a negation of that hierarchy in this book. That, to me is what is crucially lacking here.

Comments on Tolstoy's Predictions
"柏樹” Hakujyu Monthly Magazine 1907 July edition

1 The Appearence of a Messiah from Far East

I first heard about Tolstoy's predictions from my father just around the end of World War I
(Taisho 7th year, or 1918). It was just around the time I entered elementary school.
My father first read about it in some kind of science magazine published in London,in
1915. But later on tracked the article down to the one in the American newspaper called Boston Globe of February 23rd, 1913.
According to the article Tolstoy actually made his predictions alreay five years prior to that, in 1910.
How much that article can be "trusted as the literal truth", I don't know.
I personally do have some doubts.
But despite that for over 70 years those predictions have alway stayed in my mind.
The start of these predictions was when between a German Emperor and an English King
(Lord?)looked for a reliable prophet as to what kind of future the world was heading for.
In the end they decided to ask Tolstoy for his comment.
So they contacted the Russian Emperor for that possibility.
Tolstoy at that time was rather retired from the world and was at the private villa of Yasnaya Boriyana. He was melancoly with worry at the world situation, but he was no longer an active part of that.
There some Countess? who happens to be a relative of his appears with the inquiry for the Emperor.
Tolstoy at first closed his eyes and was reluctant to speak, but finally this is what he said.
(Or so it is claimed).
"These days I open day dream. Or shall I say, the same vision keeps on haunting me even during day-time. I have been quiet about it for I doubt that anyone would believe me. But it is such anappropriate answer to what these three royalties have asked. Hence I will tell you what this vision is....
Even now as I close my eyes I see the same vision.
One very beautiful and naked witch appears.
She is the witch of mercantilism, and her head is full of precious stones adorning her hair. She has three arms on one side and three more on the other side. Out of her six arms , she carries three torches on one side, one in each hand..
The witch with her first torch light the "flame of war" among the hearts of generals and politicians.
With the second torch she lights mostly the hearts of religious people( including researchers, educators and other cultural personalities). When that occurs, they can no longer grasp the truth as their minds become distracted by greed, desire for fame, success...
With the last torch, that fire will bring forth the destruction of so called "home". For love between husbands and wives, filial love, patrial love, brotherhood, friendship, respect, amity, compassion and so forth; all theses emotions will become completely extinguished and non-existant....
And when the world condition becomes this dismal, and mankind seems to be on the eve of Harmagedon, would appear a powerful force to prevent this. It isn't really like an appearence of a "new religion", but rather a way of "thinking" so radical as to be beyond imagination.
So what kind of "thinking" it may possibly be?...
I have no idea. But this I can affirm" said Tolstoy as he raised his voice.
"That Messiah, the one who can pull back humanity as it verges towards the final catastrophe, has already ben born by this year (1910). He may be Slavic, or Mongol, and the place is somewhere east of Asia. But he himself has no knolwedge that he himself is shouldering such a grave mission."

A short while after giving these predictions Tolstoy left home forever,on the night of October 28th in 1910. The chasm betwen his ideals, which he wished to adhere to at any cost; and the so called reality of family life and the rapport between himself and others surrounding him, became too much to compromise or endure.
Few days later after his disappearence, he will terminate his life as an itinerant-patient in the waiting room of a small station called Astapova.
He was eighty-two years.
The Church forbade his funeral service...

Did Tolstoy really make these predictions?
If he really did, then what kind of person was it to fulfil that.
A messiah that would appear virtually out of nowhere at the very brink of mankind's self-destruction.
If it is east of Asia, possibly a Mongol-that gives the possibility that he may even be Japanese. That may be why I have been so intrigued by this prophecy.
( to be continued)

The Faustian Myth Still Lives On
Article 17
Europe, between 12th and 15th centuary, was enveloped in a very strange atmosphere.
Not only were the herectis denounced and burnt as devils and obviously, heretics denouncing the oppressors as devils as well. But one section of power denouncing the other section of power as being the agents of Satan/devil hiumself. Hence it is as though people were accusing each other of the same crime with the intent of dragging anybody down in order to pull themselves out of a, what may even be an imaginary, quagmire. An atmosphere of paranoia tinged with fear and uncertainty may be an appropriate way to describe it.
The focal point of the religious world's interest was not focused on God and goodness(theology) but much more on what, who, the definitions and boundries of what constitued the Devil. In other words the whole focal point was on and only on Demonology.
For example, in order to justify the persecution of the heretics and legalize their accusations, the clergy involved in the Inquisition had to research and study "demonlogy" and all materials related to that. Therefore contrary to the wishes of the Vatican, Europe became imbued with a populace that ended up believing in the Devil (or devils). The consequence was that around that period stories and legends involving the demonical entity became commonplace. The myth of "Dr.Faustus" is one of the most famous by -product of Satanism. And that story is only a natural reflection of the psyche of European people of that period
Faustus, with the full acknowledgement of burning in hell eternally for the sale of his soul
to Mephistopheles, still accepts and fulfills that pact. Meanwhile the Devil promises him that
“while alive on earth, would fulfill all of Faustus' desire no matter how impossible”.
The result of which, whatever Faustus desired, he obtained. Easily and freely, one may add.
But when time is up and Faustus must leave the world and face endless torutre, suffering and remorse-such is the rough outline of the story.

I assume that for most "modern" people, the story of Faustus is pure fiction.
But once there is the realization that even now in the 20th centuary, hair-raising phenomenons that are Faustian in essence is occuring daily all around us, one is simply stunned.
Obviously one isn't going to encounter a person who managed " to sell his soul to the Devil".
(He in wrong here, but Japan at that time did't have yet such active Satanic crimes as now).

But if not to the "Devil" there are plenty of people who "sell their soul for money".
I think one can saftely state that in an affirmation.
If one has money, one can buy all kinds of pleasure. If one has the money, one can obtain the kind of education/diploma one wishes for. And once the desired diplomas are supplied, one can-with money-choose the type of career desired. With that, one can marry the person of choice, and live in the kind of habitat of dream, as envisioned. Even if one falls ill, one can go to the top specialist, and so forth. In other words with money one can lead a confortable and fulfilling life...at least the majority of mankind seems to believe in that myth.
Even for a soveriegn state, the number one priority in politics would be to regulate the finance.
And the canditate budgeting the system would not be where he would be, without the financial backing in order to run for a political career. In other words "'tis a world where all depends on the money". But despite that, when push comes to shove and when the final time of confrontation arrives, all that money is useless.
When one arrives at that point of no-return one realizes that all that beliefs, that "money=hapiness", "internal peace/security=financial stability", were in reality just a temporary illusion of no substance. But by then the realization is far too late to offer any remedy.
When confronted from this angle, does not that medieval Devil corespond to what we call "money" now?

It isn't just "money" that seems to be the twin extention of the Devil, but also the so-called "motivations for life". Whe one reads the newspaper or magazine, or listen to the radio or watch the tele-vision, or at school, at work, even at home; the most common, popular and discussed theme seems to be how to be successful, to become famous, to be applauded, how to be noticed above others, lead a life of "more"compared to the rest of mankind....etc.etc. That seems to be " it".
And in order to achieve that, one needs to be constantly be against the others, to be competitive,
to be confrontational, to be self-centered, self-interested, to be aggressive, pushy...It is as if though by trying to lead oneself out of the bottomless swamp, one is literally pulling each others' leg.
No matter how much society repeats the same refrain of peace, justice and collaboration it will be useless for society is constructed in such a way that all these words stated above will be rendered meaningless. So where is that power that enables to keep society functioning in such a fraudulent and futile system? Or to put it more precisely, what/who is it that keeps on inciting, tempting, applauding people to behave in this manner, where the way to hell is clearly marked.
What is this invisble air that accomplish this?
I dare say it is the Devil himself manipulating us.

Article number 18
Published in the Decenber issue of 1988
"The Rote-Learning Educational System-Where Is It Really Taking Us"

There is a famous oral advice by a Chinese sage天台大師 that was later on written down under the title「小止観」.In it there is a chapter titled 「覚知魔事」. To put it flatly it just states "to be aware/careful of the Devil."
As a heading for this chapter is written this sharp observation 「道高ければ魔盛んなり」.
As one ascends higher and higher in one's way of discipline, the temptations from the Devil becomes more refined and sofisticated as well.
So long as one is unknown and proceeding alone for the way of truth, one is relatively safe.
But once, for whatever reason fame is thrusted upon one-temptations aadn deciets befall on one as well. With the flattery that seems to be attached to the price of fame, one can easily fall into the illusion that one is some special "super-man" with a specific message and so forth and be misled from the initial path. That would be the devil's pit, but that would still be just the tip of the problem.
Even if, like Jesus according to the Vangelists or Buddha according to his disciples, one did manage to say a definite no as answer, the problem does not end there. With the constant whirl wind of pressure that society will keep on excerting on one, one's ambition may get aroused.
Even with the best intention of making a positive contribution towards some social change, beware for once amibition is awakened- the Devil may have just handed one a time bomb in the hands.
For where ever there is a group, there is need for leadership.
And once the sturcture becomes solidified, sombody is taking charge of that situation and that means that whoever has power.
And usually with time, power corrupts.
Hence blind acceptance becomes very often the leader's preference of behaviour from others.
That is very dangerous.
And that approache seems to have rooted itself into what is now known as "education".
This acceptance of totally blind, memory baesd, machine- like- obedience style, the Religious dogma -swallowing -attitude that so -called -educational system propagates.
This is nothing less than diabolical.
The proof more that the theroy is this.
All the modern governments( in other words the representatives of the elite class) passionate endorse the rote based learning system and the ○×based system, is because under this system the mind of populace becomes more malleable. The consequence of this kind of educational system is that the public loses the capacity " to see things objectively and judge things for themselves, on their own". They becvome easily manipulated and agitated according to the social wind that has been artificially created for that effect.
These days one hears the comment that " Japan is sucessful and affluent toady because of the Meiji Restauration that brought forth the Western education" "It is thanks to the government actively adopting the progressive countries (Western)system that Japan ia able to compete in the world market."
Yet on the other hand we also hear the "Japanese people are clever at copying the West but lack in originality and creativity". "Current Japan has the danger of regressing back to Militarism."
These voices shouldn't be ignored either.
So I want to repeat here.
The rote based eucational system has been embraced world wide and is nothing typical or topical of only Japan. Yet it is doubtful that there are educators and religious oriented masters that has an inkling that they have been "manipulated and programmed by the Devil to pull the intelligence of the people in the minus direction". That is the level of sophistication that the Devil possess.
It is not only in the sphere of religion and education that one is totally unaware of being manipulated. It is the whole world that is already in the Devil's hand. And not that many are taking heed.

In the 20th century thanks to so called techno-science,some people in some part of world enjoy a very rich and affluent life-style. At least that is what one believes in most part of the planet.
But if one really examines the issue, one realizers that so called fruits of techno-science is nothing more that the leftovers from researches done in order to create the latest weapons of destruction for the next modial catastrophe known as War(s).
Therefore if one really believes that techno-science has brought forth this life style of prosperity,
one should take inot account that the same technology nis used and researched daily to lead us forth on to the way of self-destruction. Not only us, but the whole planet, the planetary system, the galaxy, and "God" knows what else one can destroy thanks to this technological progress.
One should be aware of this the other side of the coin/price.

It is also true that thanks to better life -conditions regarding food, clothing, housing and so forth
as well as more physical excersice, medical capabilities among others; life expectancy has improved.
But just reflect back to the Cretaceus period wherein dinosaurs flourished, and their sudden drastic disappearence from the face of the earth. The human body that has become so accustomed to comfort and to a controlled enviroment may not survive when the so called catastrophe that has been constantly and persistenly predicted; finally hits home.
It is the Devil's favourite technique to let things run smoothly as envisioned at the beginning while simultaneously allowing its victim to proceed to the corner that the Devil wihes, without its victim being aware.
....Voluntarily to the slaughter-house...a place of no-exit...
How can we flee from that invisble hand that entraps us?
The destiny of mankind is absolutely at the state of no-exit as our weight drags us more and more down the quagmire, that bottomless pit....with most of us totally oblivious to that situation...

Addendum
Article written by Ryu Ohta for 「宇宙戦略放送」News for a Cosmic Strategy(1,477 version)
Dated Decenber 11th 2003

I have written and commented quite often about both Matsui Tooru and his unfinished opus "An Entrance Guide to Demonology", and his thought on Tolstoy's predictions......
Matsui Tooru was told about this prediction by Tolstoy from his father and it seemed that the predictions had made a deep and lasting impression on him that had never left him.
Since Matsui was born in March of 1910, so theoretically he does fit into Tolstoy's prediction as a canditate for the next "messenger"-messiah.
But Matsui in the end, was not able to create a way of thinking that would have overturned all former philosphies, and lead mankind towards a completely new way out of this destructive chaos.
I myself too, ever since reading about this prediction has wondered who, born before 1910, somewhere in East Asia, may possbilby fit into this category.
And if such a person did exist, where that country may be.
In other words in what language would this be rendered.
I have read and researched far and wide in the Japanese language and so far has been unable to encounter that kind of thinker.
Same thing with Mongolia and China.

But, out of the blue, starting this February, I discovered a Chinese thinker Ko Ransei (胡 蘭成). In him I found the possibility that he may be able to fulfill those requirements as stated by Tolstoy. Of course the word messiah is the product of Western and Christian framework, and really not applicable in the East. But Tolstoy being a Western Christain himself, had to express himself within his availability.
After reading Ko's work like “今日何日ケイ” and “世界劫キ興中国人”that thought crossed my mind.Ko was born in China in 1906.
Born under the last Imperial dynasty, he was five at the time of the Revolution of 1911, 辛亥革命 and six when Chinese Communism was created.
The most appropriate passage for understanding him may the preface written by a Japanese writer Yasuda Yajyuro for Ko's book “心経遺書”.
I will not be quoting from that for now and who ever is interested please look at the original.

Ko has claimed that his life has always been like walking on a tightrope, with his full baggage on his back.
And he is right in this assertion.
I can sympathize with his statment.
But unfortunately for most Japanese this would be hard to comprehend.
According to Shu Tenshin 朱 天心 in her book “編輯報告” Ko finished this book
“世界劫毀興中国人”just only a year prior to his demise.
And at the very beginning of the book, as a heading are written these words;
遂 志 賦 --------代序
followed by a rather lengthy preface of 20 pages, dated民國69年 June 8th.
In the Western calender that would be 1980.

 冩「世界劫毀興中国人」稿畢心中好疲憊難受、記起前人説的、
 我瞻四方、
 蹙蹙靡列騁

After having written this book“世界劫 興中国人”my heart is satisfied but 'am totally exhausted.
If expressed in Japanes his state of mind was 「八方ふさがり」、walled- in,in all directions.
After that, in the same year 「天と人との際」 “Between the threshold of heaven and humans”was published in Japan; and in the year of his death,1981 was published 「今日何日 」in Taiwan.

Ko Ransei who is Chinese however has been rejected by China as a “traitor" or to put it into
Chinese treminology, the continent of China has been betrayed by the false kingdom 「偽朝」of
Communism and whoever has been lenient towards Japan would be exiled as「漢奸」.
Ther National Political Party of Taiwan, because of his Ko's past political involvement branded him a traitor as well.
In 1972 when Japan suspended its ties with Taiwan and opened relationship with Communist China、蒋介石Chiang Kai Shek political party decided that if a compromising point of being Anti-Communism could be shared then former political foes may once again be friends.
Due to the shift in their policy, Ko's political status changed.
In1974 he was invited to Taiwan as a university professor at中華文化学院but once again there was a shift in political pressure and Ko was branded as 「漢奸」 and exiled back to Japan by 1976.
Once back in Japan he does managed to get several books published and did ocassional lectures. But all in all except for a small handful of people, his messages would be largely ignored and forgotten quite quickly by the Japanese public.

But fortunately not all was lost.
Because of his two years in Taiwan 1974-76, he was able to obtain passionate support from the朱 西寧 (Shu Seinei しゅう せいねい) family and was able to create a new philosophical movement that was called 「三三学社」there.
After Ko Ransei's demise this movement does dissolve but apparently the three sisters of the朱
family has managed to keep this flame alive.
Hence now, through the thoughts and philosophy of Ko Ransei, the Japanese may have finally found a way out of this mental quagmire.
But of course first one has to research, absorb and develop it for ourselves, on our own....
For it is high time we took Ko's advice and develop our own theory of civilization instead of attempting to fit into theories created by others.
